Shot #30: Using Stock Photo sites to build brand awareness and backlinks
A growth hack!
Hi,
Here’s your Marketing Shot.
Credits to Harry's Marketing Blog for sharing this case study.
This is a case study of a startup called Tower Paddle Board. It helps paddle boarding enthusiasts find quality SUP products at low prices. The startup was backed by Mark Cuban on Shark Tank. They had done some pretty amazing photo shoots with models using their boards on the beach. The startup uploaded these photos on Unsplash, a free stock photo website (User can download and use images without paying any fees or giving credits to the owner)Fast forwarding to 5 months. The images had :- -6 Million views-24 K downloadsThis is some great growth hack for brand awareness without spending a dime!Wait, but it doesn't end here. Now, the company thought if the images were downloaded 24K times, they must have been used on some sites.Using Google Image Search, the company found 50 websites that were using the images. They simply contacted the websites and politely asked them if they could give image credits to Tower Paddle Board by linking back to their website.Result?- 8 websites responded- 4 websites gave a back linkNow, the company can repeat this process every few months to find new websites using their images to generate free backlinks.
