Popular Google Search Operators to Save Your Time
Hello there,Here's your last shot for the month. This is not directly related to marketing but it can help you save lots of hours while you do any topic research using Google.
How to Google like a pro? Some of you might already know about the Google search operators. For those of you who are hearing this for the first time, you will find this shot very useful.1. Quotation MarkIf you want to search exact phrase put it in quotation marks. Good for searching lyrics, quotes, speeches, transcriptionsEg: Search Query: "phrase"2. Dash If you want to exclude a word from your search result put a dash before it.E.g You want filtered results for search term Jaguar (Jaguar the car brand and not the animal) Search Query: Jaguar -animal3. FiletypeReturns result only of the specified file type (ppt, pdf,TXT, etc.). The link to the direct file will appear in the results. You don’t have to visit different pages/websites to get the correct download link.E.g: Search Query: Passport Application Form filetype:pdf
Similarly, you can also look for presentations.
4. Site:Want search results from a specific site only? Use this operator.E.g Search Query: site:yourstory.com luv aroraThis will return all the results only from yourstory which has my name.
5. Related:There are times when you are searching for similar sites. Maybe, for product comparison, guest blogging, competitor research, etc. This operator will be useful in such cases. Google will return the sites that it thinks are most similar to the one you have mentioned. You may not get results for all the websites. However, you can re-run this operator on the newly discovered websites and find more sites.
Thanks,
Luv Arora (About Me)
