We all understand how important backlinks are for SEO.  They help search engines understand the relevance and authority of a site.

When a website links to another website, it is essentially giving a vote of confidence to that website. The more backlinks a website has from high-quality websites, the more likely it is to rank higher in the search results.

In addition to helping with search engine rankings, backlinks can also help to drive traffic to our website as it provides a clickable link that users can follow to visit our website.

This can increase the number of visitors to a website, which can lead to more exposure and potential customers.

I have already shared some backlink strategies in Marketing Shot #39.

Recently, I came across another smart strategy which is worth sharing with you all.

Strategy: Create and share infographics

Creating and sharing infographics can be a great way to earn backlinks.

Follow this:

-summarize a long report/article published by a media house from your industry in the form of an easy-to-understand infographic (give credits to the media house)

-share it on Twitter & LinkedIn (don’t forget to tag the author & use relevant hashtags)

-if your infographic gets engagement, there’s a good chance that it will get noticed by content creators

- wait for a couple of weeks- use reverse Google Image Search i.e use an image instead of a search query on Google to find out if your infographic is published on other websites

- if you find websites that have used your infographic, reach out to those websites in a professional and respectful manner. Ask for attribution. Voila, you got a free backlink.

- use image search every couple of weeks to find new mentions

Repeat this process with new infographics.
