Hello amazing marketers,

This is Luv and here’s your weekly marketing shot :) (Delivered every Tuesday)

Linkedin is giving the kind of organic reach that Facebook used to give in 2012-13.

In today’s shot, I have compiled some little known LinkedIn tips or hacks whatever you may want to call it, which are generally overlooked. These tips will come in handy if you want to make the most of LinkedIn.

Before going ahead, make sure you check out the Sponsor of today’s shot- Mindstamp, a powerful tool that can help you capture more leads with interactive video. Tip #1

Did you know that you can download the email ids of your connections on Linkedin in an excel format with a click of a button? This feature is provided by Linkedin. You don’t need a third-party tool for this. This is pure gold if you want to reach out to your contacts individually via email or run ads targeting these email ids.

I’m not going to share the steps to download the list. Do some Google search.

Tip #2

Use the LinkedIn polls feature to reach a wider audience. If your 1st degree connections participate in the poll, it will show up in the feed of your 2nd and 3rd degree connections too.

Tip #3

Don’t use more than 3-4 hashtags in your post updates.

Tip #4

Send a connection request only with a personalized note if you wish to achieve the person’s attention. People who receive a lot of connection requests pay attention to the ones that stand out.

Tip #5

Text post + human photo receive the highest engagement. Never put links in post updates. If you wish to share a link, publish it as a comment to your post. (Now you know why people write “LINK IN FIRST COMMENT” while concluding their post updates)

Tip #6

Engagement in the first 1 hour after publishing decides the fate of your post. You should ask your colleagues or employees to like/share/comment on your post as soon as you publish it so that you get the maximum reach.

Tip #7

Tip #7 can be considered as an extension to tip #6. You should always conclude your post update with a question for your readers. For ex, what is your opinion on this? or what are your thoughts? This will encourage them to participate in the discussion which will be a good engagement signal for LinkedIn algo.

Tip #8

Create your personal LINKEDIN URL. Most people access LinkedIn via app and are not aware that they can create a custom URL for their LinkedIn profile. For ex, my LinkedIn profile URL is: https://www.linkedin.com/in/luv1oh1/ this is much easier to remember, share, get printed on business card and looks professional rather than this https://www.linkedin.com/in/luvxyabncxzle987123aro/

Yes, you guessed it right my friend. I’m not sharing the steps. You need to Google it.

Tip #9

Don’t piss people off by tagging them in unrelated posts and expect them to engage. You will get removed.

Tip #10

Want to find contact details of a particular profile (company CEOs, CMOs, HRs, department heads or key decision makers) even when they are not a LinkedIn connection? Use Google Chrome extensions like SalesQL, Skrapp, Rocket Reach or Kendo. Most of these extensions allow you to download a certain number of profile contact details every month for FREE. You can upgrade to their paid plans depending on your usage.
