Shot #73: Learn Copywriting from a Scammer

Might seem a bit unusual

Hello awesome people 👋,This is Luv and here’s your weekly Marketing Shot :)

(Delivered every Tuesday)

Today's shot might seem a bit unusual at first but I promise it's going to be interesting. You might be thinking, " Why on Earth would I want to learn from scammers?" While I certainly don't endorse unethical or deceptive marketing, the truth is that scammers are often very skilled at convincing people. And isn't that ultimately what marketing is all about, persuading people to take a specific action?A few days ago, I received a text message that I am selected to receive a reward (Car+Cash Prize) from Snapdeal, a leading ecommerce site in India. I trust my luck so I didn’t fall for it 😁

However, I was impressed by the text message. It had all the elements of a great marketing copy (ignoring English) -

  • FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)

  • Captivating Hook to grab the attention

  • Trust phrase/brand

  • Clear Call To Action (CTA)
