Shot #83: People will do anything for those who..

(valuable lesson for marketers)

Hello awesome marketers & founders 👋 (1930 to be exact),This is Luv and here’s your weekly Marketing Shot :)

(Delivered every Tuesday)

Have you heard of the book- One Sentence Persuasion by Blair Warren? This book teaches you how to persuade someone with just one sentence.

It's based on the idea that everyone is motivated by one thing - to avoid pain and gain pleasure.

So, the trick to persuading someone is to tap into that core motivation by using a single sentence that really speaks to their desires or fears.

And the sentence itself should be short, memorable and emotionally powerful.

According to Blair, people will do anything for those who:-

  1. encourage their dreams

  2. justify their failures

  3. allay their fears

  4. confirm their suspicions

  5. help them throw rocks at their enemies

Let’s see how some brands have used it:

  1. Encourage their dreamsBrand- Nike

  1. Justify their failuresBrand- Kenneth Cole

  1. Allay their fearsBrand- Ponds

  1. Confirm their suspicionsBrand- DuckDuckGo Search Engine
